Depends, some sites still cause bloat but its not the fault of the browsers. Lazy coding where the sites dont/improperly unload ressources because "we might need the ram later on, it makes the whole thing slightly faster".
I hate this. Sure your website/program is slightly faster but everything else on the computer suffers unless the user has like mad ram ressources available. All in all its just fucking wasteful.

Also, remember that you can get chrome without googles spying shit and trackers.

Waterfox (essentially just a 64-bit clone of Firefox) taking about 0,8gb with ~20 tabs in three windows. I don't think I ever really go over 1,5gb.

None of the browsers take bloat levels of resources once javascript is disabled. I've never gone over 2gb of ram usage on pale moon with only manually allowing sites to use javascript

Currently it's taking 1,1GB of ram with around ~25 loaded tabs and +40 more in tab groups that are not loaded yet
