There's not even standardized hardware anymore which is just going to mess up everything, and consoles are leaning towards having more OS stuff because they wanna emulate PCs. You have stuff like the PS2 which IIRC the only functions not related to gaming were your memory card browser and basic system settings like time.

The PS2 was great. Everything before that was great. This is probably me with rose-tinted nostalgia glasses, but everything past that* tried to piggyback off the PC's strengths, except that without freedom you're only getting the negatives and not the positives.

they never talked about the pc version in any interview, this was clearly a console game, they just ported it on pc for the extra money and thats it

Sadly consoles is where the money is at, and with the current console generation it's far easier to just dev for consoles first and port it over rather than dev for pc first and then get it working on consoles.
