happy old year btw hope your presents were exciting

I got a frying pan, I guess this is what being old is like

Last year I got a cast iron frying pan so yes this is what it's like when you play steam games get old.

This year a friend got me MonHunt when it wasn't on sale so I got him Dragon Quest in return.

Yep It's definitely a good and well established type of serious.
I just like the fresh ideas and variety of Eternal at the moment.
Also mtg has some issues on the digital side of things.

I do need to get into the trading scene of mtg.
I have a ton of stuff from the Scars of Mirrodin blocks and eventually I want to build a Mirrodin/Kaladesh Cube someday.

Okay I just stumbled on that game in the steam specials.
It looks like an extremely cheap bad hearthstone clone so I'll just say this.

Hearthstone is a bad game.
The people who like Artifact like Artifact because they are coming from Hearthstone.
I've heard from secondhand knowledge that people who defend artifact say something like "game is balanced because this card runs on 50/50 chance".

Eternal is probably the best digital card game right now.
I would give it a fair shot.
Oh yeah here's a invitation link so you can get some extra free stuff.

Nah it's cards.
It's like magic the gathering except better and free to play AND extremely generous.
I've talked about it quite a few times here.

The art is real good

Funny thing is my portrait mode monitor has a simple rainmeter setup and a custom bg but my portrait monitor has the default bg still.

More importantly can we talk about this perfectly normal good boy and this perfectly prime lore?

That's true but Eternal exists now.

You don't have to pay anything to play it.
You can play the free stuff to get gold for drafts.
You keep what you draft.
Your first pvp win of the day gives you a booster pack.
You can watch Eternal streams that use the extension for cards and packs.

You can play a legit TCG for actually free.
Edit: CCG I mean.  Goofed up the acronym there.

Yep.

I have to put a bit more emphasis on checking out jimmy.
I've watched bits of a LP of it and the game, jokes, gimmicks, and crushing depression are spot on.
I'm definitely getting it during a steam sale(probably the next one).

I think he's doing this so that the game keeps that certain special feel of the game that you get with one man projects.
Also it gives him that extra time and flexibility to change things more if needed.
Toby does not want this suffer from the same problems that plagued Sonic 06/Boom or No Man's Sky.

If it's as big as you say then how come I've never heard of it

Mostly I guessed that the people who come here would have heard about it from people who follow game dev stuff.
It also has been a while since the demo was tweeted so...yeah.

Wasn't it the same guy who made Undertale? Why the fuck would he "need a team" and "years to make"...? Does he prefer working alone on it or what?

One man games of this caliber often take 4-7 years to make.
Even if he's doing a bunch of the stuff himself a dev team helping will shave a few years off the dev cycle.
Also in Undertale Toby got Everdraed to design the neutral final boss.

At this point it's too late to talk about it.
Toby Fox is big enough now that you have to play on day 0 to avoid spoilers.
I would talk more about games that fly under the internet's radar like Jimmy and the Pulsating Mass.
