I am really having a hard time finding these kind of of black/red samurai/olden type of high contrast graphics. The only anime I can think of from the top of my head that has these are the Animartix and Samurai Champloo. Is there a specific term for these? Where can I find more references.

They seem to be derived from Ukiyo-e paintings and old Chinese art (the pictures remind of Hanafuda, which has its images pulled straight outta China) but I don't know if there's a specific term for what you're looking for.
