I couldn't see the appeal of Arma, personally. You're shooting at people miles away and there's barely any feedback or gratification. It does it's job as a simulator well but as a game I find it pretty disappointing. The guns are boring, the gunplay is boring, and you spend most of the time running around doing nothing.

That said, it seems to be the sort of game you would buy for the mods rather than to play the actual game.

Too bad there's not too many of those alive. Quake could be cool but nobody I know really plays it.

What's the main Quake game most people play? I'd get totally dumpstered but I've always been interested in actually playing the game since I have such a love for Arcadey games in general.

TF2 is free to play, and yet you barely see any on public servers. I don't know what you're on about.

I get accused of cheating more often than necessary, though.

I've seen like 1 cheater per 100 hours I've played which is a pretty good ratio

That said I've barely ever seen any cheaters in any online games I've played so maybe I'm just lucky

I happen to be an expert on this subject.

Unreal Tournament 2015 is the next big thing. Quake Live has been casualfest for a year now. Reflex is cool too if it ever gets out from Early Access.

Also several small titles are trying but we'll see about them when they get released such as Midair.

Was pretty funny when they released a patch that fixed nospread and speedhack exploits.
Some people actually complained to Valve because "the game is dead if I can't cheat in it."

EDIT: UT2015 might be interesting
