It still amazes me how bloody uncultured most people are. Is it SO hard to say "thanks" when I help you out with something? I waste precious minutes of my life to help you without having any profit from it, only for you to walk away as if I were a ghost.

Did you miss reading the "without any profit" part? How the fuck do I get anything out of showing someone where a specific building in the city is? The guy literally listened to me, got where the building was and just walked away. No goodbye, no thanks, NOTHING.
I could've come to the conclusion that he's just utterly socially maladroit, but judging by the way he approached me there is NO WAY that is the case. He's just that uncultured.

I don't know about you, but I sure as fuck felt like a cheap whore at that moment.

Both the Oxford and Collins dictionaries list "uncultured" as severely lacking in good taste, manners, upbringing and education. In this case, it would be manners.

Also, pardon me if I'm wrong, but isn't "rude" practically a synonym in that case?

I suppose it can be. Normally I think of "uncultured" as lacking perspective and being ignorant of the world. Just semantics, I guess

they're not being very polite, sure, but your intentions of helping them are ungenuine if you regret helping them because they did not give anything in return, even if it is as little as a simple thanks

To be quite honest here, if I knew that someone would act that way, I wouldn't have helped them in the first place. Of course, I have no way of knowing if someone is going to be incredibly polite (brings back memories when a girl asked me where a hotel was, and it was right in front of her, so she got so embarrassed and thanked me so many times that I couldn't help but feel happy for the rest of the day) or have the manners akin to a pig, so of course I'll never deny helping anyone, but I AM going to regret it if the person turns out to have the latter trait.

I mean, I don't really care if he continues living his life like that. It's partially his parents' problem as well as his, but what I do care about is the fact that it left a bitter taste in my mouth. How am I supposed to react to that? Be confused? Happy?
I can't ignore it because of what I said - he wasted minutes of my life by making me regret it, so of course I'll express my discontent afterwards.
