Oof this debate again.
I'd say minecraft has better building while terraria has better combat.
Also I rather prefer how minecraft ties worlds with characters while terraria can have stupid levels of world grinding.
Also you have the option to have a much more private base in minecraft leading to more interesting pvp.
Starbound is just weird.
I lost it though when a floran bandit said "GIMME THE CASHHHHHH"

Of course, but im going of the fun factor: its just much more fun to play terraria.
Still, i love minecraft for that it is; it just doesnt hold up in fun vesus terraria (on the other hand i get bored of terraria much faster too, once you're at endgame)
Life is like a box of chocolates.

What would be ideal for me would be something with tighter platforming and better traps like cave story or kero blaster or la-mulana.
I doubt it will happen anytime soon but it might happen in a few years or something.

Minecraft and Terraria aren't even SIMILAR games. I don't know who the fuck came up with the comparison, and I can guess that their entire reasoning was "well both have crafting and mining!". Yeah no. It's like comparing Minecraft to DayZ - you can't.
Terraria is an action-based crafting game, where your entire mission is to rape all the bosses and make the world a hospitable place. It's highly linear in that regard.
Minecraft is also a crafting game, but much, much less so in action department, as killing mobs and finishing the game's story is secondary to pure survival and world-shaping. Minecraft has a very loose story and focuses much more on bringing out your creative genius, thus making it infinitely more replayable. I'd also like to add that Minecraft runs MUCH better on multiplayer. What I mean by that is that having 10 players on a Minecraft server doesn't make for a more boring game than going solo - Terraria does. The reason lies in the fact that they are NOT fucking similar games. With Terraria being so action-driven, having 10 people online immediately results in a shorter and thus more boring game, as once you reach end-levels (as Granger already said) it becomes a matter of farming lategame bosses, not even ordinary enemies anymore.
Minecraft is made to be infinite in regard to world building and pure replayability. Terraria is made to squeeze out all the fun it can in the time you play it, but once you finish it you either quit or start all over again, as the game has no open ends. I don't even know whose idea it was to compare them to begin with.
