well, sorry for asking too much, sorry for getting tired of updating stuff every time I have to, sorry that I want a future-proof PC setup, but guess what, "It's stupid" isn't helping at all. Besides, my main monitor is dying, at any time it could just *poof*, so yeah, that's why.

Yes, you should be sorry.
No sane gamer who knows his money's worth would buy that rig they posted.
You're not gonna neeed a watercooler for your CPU unless you're going to overclock it.
You sure as fuck don't need a GTX 1080 unless you're planning on having a quad monitor 4k resolution setup.
Never heard of that brand of RAM before, I'd rather buy something from a company that actually has a name to them.
A 256GB SSD for use as a system disc seems a little over the top as well, but I guess it works.
Not having an HDD for putting shit like images and torrenting anime onto is another thing, you definitely don't want to torrent shit onto an SSD.

you're correct in most things but a 250GB SSD is pretty vital if you're like me and want your simses to run smoothly
(or any other larger video game but muh simses take up like 25-30gb of my hard drive)
I definitely also advocate having a larger general storage hard drive, but if you're getting a SSD in a gaming pc a 120gb will quickly prove to be very small, as experiences of many of my friends have proven

I dont really see a problem in getting a 1080 tbh, should be a solid card that will not get dated too soon.
If you can spare the dosh, ofc.

Also I'm triggered by the word "gamer" so badly you wouldn't even believe.

So people around here get triggered by 'gamer', 'cuck', 'autism' etc., toughen up it's only a word.

I have 700GB of SSD space and 6TB of HHD space, IMO that's around the minimum you should need especially when you back want to backup your data.

let's see if you say that when someone breaks in and steals all your tech
I'm personally at the point where I don't even bother with backups anymore because life is suffering anyway and all I would lose are some selfies which nobody needs anyway

Thing is, the card is horribly overpriced at this time in terms of efficiency, and it makes it even LESS efficient when you couple it with the fact that the guy won't be running VR or playing in 4k.
If he's going to play in 1080p might as well buy a 970 and he's guaranteed to still be able to play new games for the next 5 years.

Sure, I agree with you if the guy has so much money that he grows it out of his arse - he should get not only one but two of the 1080s and make his shit proof for the next decade.

GTX 1080 actually provides more performance per dollar than the 970, it's just that if you're going to play overwatch that performance is mostly going to waste.

I'd suggest waiting for the inevitable GTX 1060 or something.

Yes, like I said, if he's going to utilize everything the card has to offer then great, I'd tell him to buy it the first day it comes out considering it manages to outperform a card that's apparently 300 bucks above it in price, but we're talking about Boat here - he's going to play fighting and retro games that don't get any benefit from going 4k and I don't think he'd bother with VR either..... so he'd practically waste almost all of the strongpoints of the card.

Also, I find it that he should also invest in a 500gb - 1tb SSD as well as having a couple of nice hard drives, because that site doesn't give a rat's ass about it from what I've seen. 250gb is enough right now for the system + programs, but in 2 years you'll have to upgrade it anyways, so why not go for more space - it's cheap as shit anyways.

The page he linked provided a rig that had a 250GB SSD (For OS/program use probably) and a 500GB SSD one on top of that for games. Hence me saying a 250GB one for the OS is kinda over the top.
Unless 250GB SSDs are now the minimal cheapo standard on the market.

Re: ITT: Pretend we are still writing in osu! OT

Well I have a 500gb one and after all the programs on it as well as the system, I'm down to 300gb, and having owned the previous PC for almost 6 years I definitely know that I'll get that space used up in the next 3 or so years if I'm not too wasteful with it. Not only that, but if you ask me, the general consumer SSDs are so cheap you might as well buy the biggest one you think you'll find a use for, and I'm definitely getting a bigger one as soon as this one gets to ~80% capacity.

Sure, when it comes to GPUs we can argue who needs which GPU, but the one thing that I find universal is a good number of storage devices.
You'll never in your life be able to say "well shit I didn't need this 2tb hard drive, there goes my money" or "fuck this 1tb EVO Pro, I regret ever buying it" compared to other parts of the PC.

Also, the thing that I forgot to mention is that the site lists water cooling - something I think is even more wasteful on Boat than a brand new card.
