Oh alright, Chinese kid and Pedorani's just being a numpty then.

Why would you even mention me? I didn't write ANYTHING that wasn't true. The game still costs 60 Euro which is an outrageously high price for such a low-quality game by Blizzard's standards (heck, even 40 is double the price of what any smaller company would charge for it) AND it still has microts.

The only people who defend that game as something revolutionary are either kids or seriously mentally challenged people.
I'm open for discussion if you believe I'm wrong. Tell me how the 60/40 Euro price tags are justifiable compared to other games that actually bring something new to the table and then I may take these shitposts seriously.

As it stands, my argument that it's a TF2 with bland as fuck characters whose worth goes only up to dank memes is valid. I would have no problem with the game what-so-ever (okay, that's a lie, 40 bucks is far too much for a clone) if all the kiddie fans would just admit that it's nothing more or less than a Blizzard TF2 edition, but apparently they're butthurt by the mere use of the word "copy" or "look-alike".

1) it's 40 you fucktard, especially so if you don't care about hats
2) it DOES bring something new to the table - it's a moba/shooter mix. it's not reinveinting the wheel, it's making the wheel out of a different material. it has fuck all to do with TF, TF is a basic shooter with characters as generic as possible where you mix your own playstyle together out of different guns (which is basically just a step forward from your typical fps that has no classes and only guns). in OW you pick a character, you know what to expect from it and you need to make it work with the team.
3) I fucking hate micros too but you're literally being assblasted for no reason here, the micros are completely cosmetic and are in no way rubbed into your face. there is ONE button in the game to take you to the shop screen. they are reasonably priced, as opposed to league's 5€ pricetag on skins to add sparkles to them. they give zero advantage in the game, you don't need to touch them if you don't want to, why are you so angry?

@Ippe:
I already did explain it. They COULD have given you those skins or whatever it is that you get from those boxes faster and without a dime invested in it, and while I have NOTHING against paying in the game to get something, they deliberately slow down the process of you obtaining it for free just so you could spend money on it and get it instantly, thus literally making an idiot out of you for loving the game.

Don't think that I only hate Overwatch for it. World of Tanks' and World of Warships' system is intentionally made so you get less credits and at higher levels even lose them JUST so you could spend hundreds of Euro on it, essentially milking the living fuck out of their fans - HOWEVER, both of those games are FREE. So, the situation looks like this: I pay 40 bucks for Overwatch, get into the game, and unless I want to spend the next eternity and a half getting that "free" loot, I have to pull up my wallet AGAIN, all in an attempt from the company to farm money from you.
It's important to understand the difference between a company that gives you free shit and a company that spends a lot of time carefully planning out its marketing to make you FEEL like you're getting free shit.

You know what other game does that same thing? League of Legends! A lot of people have praised it for introducing a chest system that gives you free shit just for playing. Yay! Free shit! Except you later find out that you have to either grind for 2 fucking years to get that free shit (no exaggeration) or pay for those chests that could get you some seriously rare stuff.......... and then you have to pay even more for it to unlock it and after careful calculation I've come to the conclusion that you lose more money on those chests than if you were to just buy the fucking skin outright.

The reason I brought up that system League introduced which is fundamentally the same as Overwatch's free loot is because that's one way people mistake kindness for just plain numbers and profit. If you look at the remarks people were making and praising the living fuck out of Riot Games for its kindness, you'd quickly come to the realisation that they knew exactly what the fuck they were doing and that it was all a part of their marketing strategy.
Claiming that Blizzard is giving you free shit and that those microtransactions have no meaning is straight out gullibility.

Well if you compare it to other Fallout games and Skyrim, yes, it is alot more colourful.

imo, it keeps the game alive because it gives you something to work for.

without that box system i wouldnt be playing the game that much, buying boxes would totally ruin that "fun" aspect of the game for me (yeah opening a box is fun)

When you have a game that's solely focused on multiplayer, you need to have some way to make the game seem fresh and keep it active.  Giving the player a goal to achieve is a good way to do that because everyone loves the feeling of being rewarded.

You do realise the free loot drop system is your only indication of any progress in the game and basically acts as a replacement for a CoD style progression system where you unlock gameplay elements (guns etc.) with progress. In all the games you mentioned the progression slows down the further you get like in any game where you level up your character or account. It might seem like they're deliberately making buying the cases more and more tempting, but thats only really a side effect of them implementing the most generic progression system and just replacing periodical gameplay additions with cosmetics.

Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by carelessness.

Well I tried to make the point as precise as possible, but apparently people have something against me trying to explain it from a pure marketing standpoint.
Here's the entirety of my argument chopped down into a bite-sized post:
I don't have anything against microtransactions in general. I've spend more money than I am willing to admit on games that have microtransactions and I don't regret a second of it. What I was trying to say is that people here are gullible and think that free loot that you can grind towards equals charity and a goodhearted company, when in reality that company doesn't care for you and is just trying to sneak that microtransaction part under the radar. If it didn't profit from it, it wouldn't have put it there in the first place. There is no love behind it and that's all I was getting to. If you fail to realise that, we have nothing to talk about.

@IppE:
That argument would work if we were talking about an indie-game developer.
We're talking about Blizzard here - a company that has absolutely zero tolerance for failure and spends a hefty amount of its budget to carefully study both the game market economy as a whole, as it does studying the very people who play its games.
There is no room here for claiming that they're careless in any way, shape or form.

They even doubled the number of available job spaces at their headquarters in an attempt to study and salvage what is left of WoW after all the shit they've done.

Re: ITT: Pretend we are still writing in osu! OT

In my opinion, companies that put microtransactions in their game after already making you spend 40 bucks on the game itself are just a buncha moneygrabbing douchebags.
If it's free to play that rewards you for grinding and put a little bit of micro on the side for people with too much money on their hands, perfectly fine.
It's the reason I gave up on Payday 2 TBH, releasing dozens of DLCs that cost half the game each even though they add less than 10% of the original content and then they add microtransaction to the mix, fuck them.

Re: ITT: Pretend we are still writing in osu! OT

I don't think anyone here has praised that aspect as a charity thing, they've just been defending it from the over-reactive criticism.
Blizzard fans like the feeling of progression or 'leveling up' and the boxes give that.  I'm guessing a lot of players bought the game just for that.  It's not like they're telling you to buy them; you have the option to if you really want to but it's not mandatory.
It's like damn, if I didn't get pussy for making myself look good, why should I even bother.
