It reflects how new users will view the forum: "oh it's shiny and the scrolling is good on mobile". When it came out every man and his dog was complaining in OT, and even in that discussion thread there are people complaining about it, mostly people who have a fair amount of posts.

Well, only a small percentage of the community uses forums, so as long as it looks good, peppu will just keep attracting more and more kids to join the game. If the forum users don't like it, then he doesn't care. He just wants the money from the newfags wanting supporter.

I suppose the forumers have a pretty small percentile of who regulary buys sup too, i mean theres almost no incentive for doing so if you mostly use the forum; a one deal userpage and...?

From a business standpoint, yeah, ppy couldnt care less about the forumers.

Lack of functionality definitely is something that doesn't usually concern new people as much as the people who are used to it. One won't miss what one never had.
I guess peppu is just banking on people being too amazed by the cool modern visual design to notice the flaws.

Infinite scroll actually makes me lose track of forum convos. I depend a lot on page numbers to find a specific comment.

A good portion of the moderation team has openly said they don't want to moderate, and many of them have indicated that the only way for the community to survive is to fracture and form more insular groups. So long as this forum isn't exclusionary for the sake of exclusion, or just an excuse to make drama, it should lead to direction and growth. That's something that's good for everyone here, and the community at large.

Maybe eventually a true community leader will rise to the top, explain to peppu how long term growth works, and we'll look back on these times as a sort of primordial soup rather than a cesspool. Or peppu will continue to shit on everyone and everything because all he cares about is coding.

But hope is the most practical option, so I'm going with that.
