Re: ITT: Pretend we are still writing in osu! OT

Its not the kind of test anyone would pass without wasting 4 years of study and a quarter million of dollars on, for knowledge that'll never apply to anything besides that test.

That said dilettante seems kinda familiar. Couldnt tell you what it means though, just that i heard it before. Something work related?

EDIT: A dilletant, someone who does work slopily and or without experience. In other words, a amateur. This is the verb form i assume. I belive it has its roots in french?

EDIT: Yup. http://www.duden.de/rechtschreibung/dilettantisch Its been ages since i heard it used. And its of italian orgin, not french.

The reason I'm taking the test (and the German equivalent on Goethe) is for my future job applications. It'll go wonderfully with the rest of my academic achievements, IF I can pass without developing some form of cancer during the exams.

Are you trying to become a high tier archivist or something? I cant really imagine much beyond that that'd require you to know a ton of now dead words otherwise. A word to describe a chicken. A male HOUSEchicken specifically at that. People dont have house chickens since decades anymore!

It's the certificate that counts, regardless of how nonsensical the questions on the exam are.
I mean, ultimately, it's only a plus to have such a thing, and it certainly gives off a better impression than not putting anything in, especially when you're trying to apply for a job in an international company here.

Anything that gives you an edge over the fusty masses.

Re: ITT: Pretend we are still writing in osu! OT

Toefl is for people wanting to go to america, so it commands less respect here compared to ielts, but as far as I know (correct me if I'm wrong), they both last for 2 years and are mainly taken by people who want to move into America/Britain respectively or simply to study abroad.

On the other hand, cae is valid for the rest of your life, so it makes more sense for me to take that one instead of ielts that needs to be retaken every 2 years.
I don't really plan on studying abroad, and cae is far more rigorous, so cae it is.

@Ippe
I'll give ye something special ye wanker

this is about when I should be announcing whether I'm doing the stream today or tomorrow, but I still don't have a planner so I have no fucking idea about my time distribution :) :)

anyway, STREAM TOMORROW @ 1900 TUUBA TIME (1700 BST)
will be the dotas, followed most likely by something low-key - maybe I'll start something like Bastion or Undertale, but I'm open to suggestions
