It's bad because it forces upstanding and intelligent users to go through bullshit just because a bunch of brainless retards can't take proper care of their assets, it was already a 7 day delay on trading shit and now they're upping that limit to 15 days, it's like having DRM forced down your throat, pirates completely shit on DRM in a matter of hours while the actual consumers have to wade through all these extra steps just to enjoy the pile of steaming shit they paid money for.

Yeah, that makes sense. Seems like Valve is attending to the needs of the many.

valve has done nothing but attend to the needs of the many since the release of dota 2, everything they now do is appealing to the masses which albeit makes them loads e mone

I'll never understand butthurt people. If you were in charge of a massive company, you would do the SAME thing, if not even worse. Of course you'd want more money over the needs of insignificant little users who are still going to shut up after 2 days of whining and go with the flow. I'm not just talking about this particular incident, as it applies to every move of a major company nowadays.
The ONLY time you should complain about companies raking in money is when they go too far and do it EA style.
Bloody hypocritical bastards. :V

Companies/government can get away with all the shit they do because most idiots like you are like 'YOLO who cares why r u overreaction xD' when they do something bad.
Alright rebel, still don't see the bad in it. Because turning on Steam Guard gives sooo much personal information and is a maaaajor violation of our private space right?
You have to take into account that the community market IS a market and people make money off of it. No matter what there will always be stupid people who get their account hacked and get their money taken from them. If Valve wants to reduce the amount that occurs then this was a neccassary action. If someone does get hacked then it gives them time to send a support ticket and retreive it back within 15 days. Alot better than receving support tickets of people losing their money.

Steam guard is no issue, the mobile auth is. I dont want to give valve my phone number along with all the personal information about every app on phoney grabs.

You give your number to your workplace, your school, your university, your hospital, your doctor etc etc. Does it make a difference?
It's not like your phone number was a secret to the world.

But these things do need my number, Steam doesnt.
And now i effectively cant opt out of it if i want to do any trading.

Then don't trade then. It's a luxury run by Steam so it's their rules you have to abide by. No one is telling you that you have to trade. It's a benefit granted by them so it's their choice on whether they should inforce an extra bit of security.

EneT made a point that you can't refute.

>enable steamguard
>use a different password on your steam account and email
gg you're fucking invincible and don't even need a smartphone for another protection
who the hell needs so much protection seriously, steamguard just works perfectly
people who can't protect their account with steamguard shouldn't even be on the internet
