All I know is that Terraria classes are still unfinished and highly imbalanced. Ranged is FAR, FAR more useful than Mage in EVERY WAY possible UNTIL the game is already beaten and the finally boss vanquished, because only THEN does the Mage class equal Ranged. It's so gay it hurts, and I adore that game.

I love the snow biome and exploring random caves early in the game. I simply adore the early-mid game in Terraria.

Really? I always thought Ranged and Mage were on fairly equal footing. Mages got all them tricks while ranged is just pointy le homing/splintering shooty.
Then theres meele. Earlygame suck and then you have beamswords and everything goes fuck all.

Yoyos are quite likely the most retarded thing on melees simply because it still deals tonnes of damage. Ranged can get some INSANE dps compared to mages all the way from early to lategame, and the ONLY time a mage can outscale a ranged guy is after you defeat Moon Lord and get those dank items. Trust me, I've tested it in every stage of the game... took about 2 hours to set up and test, but ranged definitely outclasses mages throughout the game.
I was incredibly butthurt about that because mages are my thing and it felt so cheaty that the other guy could easily deal 3 times my own damage on bosses despite both of us having equal-tier weapons and gear.

You've never used the magic harp to destroy the destroyer in approx 0.4 sec have you? Granted that one bow 1.3 added absolutely shreds destroyer too but its (technically: the weapons's stats the awakened chests drop suggest as much) post mech tier.

That's a very specific circumstance. Use it on any other boss and it's barely going to do shit compared to what any kind of ranged weapon can do in literally every other situation, and even then (as you mentioned) they have ways of keeping up with you on that boss.
The whole idea of the ranged class SHOULD in theory be that they win against a mage in prolonged battles, but mages should be doing much, MUCH more burst damage, but as it stands the ranged guys can crit for bloody 3 times the damage a mage can output EVERY SECOND. It's just bonkers.

Regardless of that, the game is still extremely fun, and when I'm not exploring vast caves early-game, I'm usually found at the base, spicing it up a bit and trying to make something other than a completely square house the autists I play with love to build. :p
