I can't really splurge on video games, and the free section doesn't have interesting stuff (I'd probably play dota 2 with my irl friends, but that's pretty much it). Also my laptop overheats like crazy, which limits the type of game I can play.

You don't understand the implications of cuckold and you don't understand the implications of freedom. Freedom doesn't mean that anyone can do whatever you want without facing any criticism or repercussions. Freedom means that you are free to do those things that other people would look down upon. I'm over this 'all opinions are equal' meme, if someone has a stupid opinion I'm gonna call it stupid, I'm not gonna respect opinions that don't reserve respect and have an adverse effect on me.
Microsoft may be spying on you through other means but it not an excuse because it's no where near as bad as on Windows 10. It's the same as a fat man justifying eating a whole tub of icecream because he already had an icecream cone. And by what means does Microsoft spy on me with Win7, if you're so knowledgeable then let me know.

And you don't need Win10 to stop viruses. There are plenty of means to prevent viruses, just use and old OS but be more security conscious, change to a different OS like Linux with Win7 for games only, et cetera. At the end of the day it comes back to the same point: you're not willing to put in a little more effort to prevent the distribution of an unethical piece of software. And so far none of these excuses have changed this bottom line. Stop alluding to these so called 'standards' if you won't even outline them or demonstrate how they actually affect your behavior in the real world.
