Just kidding the movie was a clear 10/10 IMO, don't know why they made 4 OVAs as a prologue when they cover all of that in the first 15min of the movie

I'm mostly interested in Rise of Nations, but apparently Age of Empires 2 is really good. I'm somewhat interested with Age of Mythology as well.

I personally hate the game, but that all depends on how competitive you are and how well you can stand randoms. If you can bear to deal with toxic pricks all the time, and somehow enjoy a game where bullets don't go where you point, you might find some enjoyment in the game.
I'd say it's worth the risk, because even if you don't like the game itself, there are plenty of custom map thingys you can have a bit of fun with, like surf maps.
