Nah, it did happen, but the guy was a father and has also survived (albeit fucked for life) so that's definitely not Birdy. However, I DID find that 3 heavy floods hit almost the entirety of Tasmania around the time Bird disappeared, so it might be that the poor sod didn't make it.
