And that would directly translate to higher price, which isn't good for sales.

But why dont people buy the very same hardware for a actual pc that costs even less and offers much more freedom?
Consoles go and stay go pls.
Only thing consoles have going for them is the standardized hardware and OS so games for consoles... just work. No settings or anything to fuss about.

These aren't even things anymore because you have to go through all the updates and shit, and now they're bringing in console hardware upgrades leaving me like ???????????????????
There's not even standardized hardware anymore which is just going to mess up everything, and consoles are leaning towards having more OS stuff because they wanna emulate PCs. You have stuff like the PS2 which IIRC the only functions not related to gaming were your memory card browser and basic system settings like time.
The PS2 was great. Everything before that was great. This is probably me with rose-tinted nostalgia glasses, but everything past that* tried to piggyback off the PC's strengths, except that without freedom you're only getting the negatives and not the positives.
* honorable mention to Nintendo who are still staying cool
But oh well, I guess that just means more people will end up switching to the glorious PC gaming master race :^)
