lel, who uses MAL?

MAL is the mainstream website to keep track of which anime you watch, there is nothing wrong with it but it probably also isn't the best option. I personally don't use it only because it wasn't the first website i came across that did this.
People hating on it are just memeing or being hipster.

So you can ask /r/animesuggest to give you new anime to watch.

ikr, it's not like you're watching 1000 anime at a time and if you forgot which anime you're currently watching then they probably weren't good enough to begin with.

why do you need to list what anime you watch
I've been asking myself the same thing and I still didn't get a reasonable answer

It's mostly for recommendations. For myself, I check anime lists of users who have high compatibility with my scores and with this way I discover new series to watch. I also get to know new people who share similar tastes with me. It is not that weird.

I just keep log of what I've watched and when. Before I started using MAL I had a text file containing said information, but MAL is more convenient.

it's fine I just wanted to hear some reasoning and you gave me a decent reason

It's alot more effort to list and update the animes you've watched imo. Easier to not do it at all and keep things in memory, unless you have shitty memory. I don't need recommendations and all that; I know what I like to watch; I know what is shit just from the first episode and I can memorise everything worth watching in my head, past and present.
