I bought a fancy new headset (Steelseries Siberian V2) and no sound besides voice chatting from steam and discord are coming trough. Everything besides that still goes trough the boxes.

I have Siberian V2 and they work fine for me. The sound quality is meh and they've worn out after the number of years I've had them, they're still ok for an entry level headset.
The problem with these fancy audio company headphones is that they don't have a mic.

right click on your sound thingy in your taskbar and select sound settings (the second option idk what it was called), right click on headphones and hit make default, double click on headphones to open their settings,. go to the last tab and remove the thing that says something about exclusive control
enjoy (also gl with the Siberia both of mine shat themselves after a short time. never take them out and baby their cord)

Ya i tried these things, but it didnt help. A reboot did though, i dont exactly know what changed but now th headset doesnt show up as decive anymore but works as it should. ㄱ(ㅇㅅㅇ)/''

And yeah i gotta agree, sound quality is crap. Glass scattering sounds more like domethin falling onto the floor with a fwump.
