And it was at that moment I realised that barely anyone here would probably get that reference and proceeded into a dark descent of gloom.

Or maybe they already have.
fuck the free market. they'll create shitty products on purpose so you'll have to buy a new pair of XY on purpose
That's not the free market's fault, it's your fault for being shitty consumer.
yea, planned obsolescence doesn't exist at all. blame the consumer.
we all need to think less and buy more. BUY! SHOP! SPEND MONEY !

When did I say it didn't? Companies exist to make money; if people will buy crappy products, companies will produce crappy products. It's not the company's fault for meeting a demand created by millions of idiots.

Never mind, I'm retarded. But I recommend Tuuba-chan not drink fruit juice, high amounts of fructuse is unhealthy.

I don't care about you trying to trigger people, the problem is you do it without any finesse whatsoever.

you didn't, i am sorry :D
hmm, i can see your point. and it obviously makes sense.
but you are assuming that people willingly buy crappy products. of course not the case.
they often get false promises through bullshit marketing and ads. just watch 15 minutes of television ads (just kidding, please do not do this to yourself)
but also, sometimes the consumer doesn't even have a choice. in some fields most products suck or are just immensely overpriced due to monopoly, which again exists because the free market.
the free market always gets praise for its "glorious competition between companies" which is nothing but complete and utter bullshit.
most of the time there are 2 or 3 companies which completely dominate the market leaving no room for smaller companies to be even near the same quality or price. and when they get somehow big enough they just get taken over by one the the two big companies.
i mean, how many options do you as a consumer really have when buying XY?
i think we've even reached the point were ethical consumerism is near impossible in our current society.
also, i'm also furious about "companies exist to make money".
do they? yes, no doubt. but should they?
should the pharmaceutical industry really strive for profit?
i won't even go to the effects of all this to workers.
good night people of tuuba and the new cute tuuba-chan on the bottom right. (does she have a name yet?) brian? tuuba-chan is kind of unoriginal
