at least YGO isn't Hearthstone levels of shit right now
The biggest difference is creatures keep their stat changes in the graveyard as well as your hand.
that sounds terrifying

YuGiOh has consistently been great; there's a reason why it is the highest grossing card game of all time even passing Magic: The gathering. Funny thing is, YuGiOh has remained among the top 2 most played TCGs despite implementing so many complicated rules/cards over time that makes it very child unfriendly, while Magic: the gathering was forced to simplify their game due to heavy loss of players.
YuGiOh started off as a pretty simple card game with numbers but it's evolved so much that kids or adults who used to play the game can't even understand what the hell is going on. Majority of YuGiOh duels nowadays end in around 2-4 turns which may sound jarring to some people who haven't played or are getting back into the game since it sounds pretty OP but once you get into it, you realise this is what makes it better. In other TCGs including YuGiOh in the past, you draw and make do with what you have, you make plays but RNG is still a heavy influence in the game; games generally become boring and slow. YuGiOh however is the only TCG right now where I feel like I'm making genuine plays. The game is alot, LOT less RNG based than every other TCGs since a good deck should be able to make a big board 80% of the time with your first 5 cards. You have so many options that it makes the skill ceiling alot higher; there's really no other TCG as skill-based as YuGiOh. Here's a random duel:

However if you are into board games, I recommend you Pokémon Duel, a game that absolutely came out of nowhere. Seriously, even I didn't expect it.

Oh?
You killed my summon: +mana spent/+mana spent?
Then let me draw it from the graveyard while giving it +1/+1 for spite and dump another turn's mana into it.
Also on the subject of drawing cards let me tell you about a little ability called echo.
A card with echo copies itself when drawn.
It is even more disgusting than it sounds and I have a feeling that a certain counterspell was made specifically to deal with echo creatures.

That's why you need to keep them in sleeves and store them in something that can keep a constant temperature.
An ode to the classics, here's the new Blue Eyes White Dragon and Dark Magician art along with the completely newly added rarities: Gold Ultra rare and Gold Secret rare.
They're pretty shit cards in competitive tho, I'm never going to use them. I didn't get a single Gold Ultra rare Dark Magician Girl either so pretty annoyed about that.

I just wanted it for the new art.
The reason they're bad right now is because they're so many easier ways nowadays to special summon bigger, better monsters turn 1 in comparison to how it was before where you would have to spend 3 turns normal summoning 1 monster each turn and tributing those 2 to normal summon blue eyes/dark magician. There's no limit to how many cards you can special summon a turn and with the addition of Xyz monsters and Synchro monsters in the extra deck to company your fusion monsters, you can special summon them anytime you want as long as you meet the conditions without having the need to draw them. The card limit for the extra deck is 15 so that gives you a potential 15 big monsters with exceptional effects and all you have to build your deck around is search cards that allow you to pick a card from your deck to special summon these monsters. Basically any card without an effect is bad, just look at this:
Very easily summoned in comparison to Blue Eyes White Dragon and it doesn't take up your 1 normal summon per turn limit too. If you're smart and have a decent hand, you can special summon 1 or both of these cards turn 1.

christ these effects are insane.
And i thought my strat with summoning relinquished turn (equip a enemy monster to relinquished once per turn at will, destroying the previous one if there was one and copy its atk/def) one was bad already.
Now thinking of it, nailing your enemy from turn one on was already a thing years ago, just harder to pull off.

Man if i ever get back into YGO (i wont) ill miss other stuff working. Like burner decks. That was fun, tons of indirect damage and card discards&draws made for some quick and frantic duels.
