I admit I've only had glances, but like Code Geass it never spoke to me that much. Y'all seem to forget that Fate Stay Night originated as HENTAI.

I mean, if you really want to avoid making the distinction through terms then, yes, they all have wishes and that's what makes them even bother answering the summons in the first place. Those wishes, however, don't need to be centered around the Grail to begin with.

Granted, some Servants (Rider and Lancer) don't get the development or exposure in the anime for their wishes to be known. At best, it's only implied that they have one that may or may not need the Grail. The only way you'd know every Servants' wish would be by picking at the various entries in the series or just playing Fate/Unlimited Codes (you'd find that none of them show interest in it). Still, that only means that wasn't a focus for the story and might as well be disregarded. The other Servants get enough development that you can at least assume what they're shooting for.

Regarding Berserker, the guy's too mad to even formulate a wish for the Grail. The only thing he ever expresses is his wish to protect Ilya, and we can assume that stems from the myth where he killed his family. Not so much the wolf thing.

Regarding Gil, he's basically there to lay his claim upon the treasure of the Grail, confidently enough to say he already won. Also to have fun. That's about it. No wish to make past just reminding everyone he's the best until UBW happens and he gets genocidal. As for the materialization, I feel like Gil did know prior to UBW. I recall him offering to give Iskandar a sip of the Grail if he were willing to bend the knee after listening to his wish at the meeting of kings. The only thing he was unaware of was that it was tainted, that's all.

I mean, I'm looking at whether or not the wishes fit the Servant in this case. Not whether or not the Servant fits the character. That's a different train of thought, honestly.
