You can still get that with tea as well.
Most of the side effects can be mitigated with moderation.
Anyways coffee tastes good and wakes me up.
Also if we're talking about digestive system issues hot sauces like Dave's Insanity can cause the real problems.

I have no issues with tea, even when I drink like a litre of black tea; on the other hand even a small cup of coffee causes my stomach to disagree with it
the end result is that if I drink coffee, it's diluted down to the colour of my skin
