Hmm... to rice or not to rice... I really want a sick audioplayer like this (or UI anyway) but i have no idea how to actually rice and i am fucking lazy.

if you want rainmeter to take up considerable resources while doing nothing behind your other windows then go ahead, would not recommend though. i assume that by 'ricing' you mean just having rainmeter

Idk, i dont think rainmeter is going to take up considerable ressources if i only do that... full blown spaceship HUDs which display literally everything you ever wanted and didnt want to know about your pc however...
The idea is to just have a button where the gray area is that launches a audio player (WinAMP probably?) and have the UI as in the image replace the players UI from then on.
I dont think i want to change much more. Maybe make the task bar look different... Minimalistic desktops are gucci . /shrug
I assume i do need rainmeter and some other stuff to make the Windows UI look different yeah.

before i moved out i needed something to constantly check how stable my connection was and i got so used to the window that it would look weird to not keep it going
