A small veiwerbase can be nice though.
You can actually read the chat without missing half of it scrolling away into the void.
Don't forget you can post here on this conveniently sized forum for viewers you can recognize at a glance.
Also you can set up something on discord or teamspeak so that there's a healthy voice chat.

I'm just saying you can have something nice and different here.

okay, let me rephrase - I'd literally get maybe 3 people watching
and I don't really see the point of having someone awkwardly providing commentary as I play, maybe if it was a multiplayer game but otherwise sounds idiotic

At the very least it would probably be 3 people you know.
As far as the commentary it could be just be idle chat.
Awkwardness with talking would probably get better with time and practice.

If you don't want to stream you don't want to stream.
