Well it's not a special thing here, people probably just celebrate it for funz or it might be the western wannabe thing. It's not a local holiday either, it might have felt like a holiday for them because it was on sunday.

hmm, I guess it might be that the people I know have all lived abroad for at least some amount of time
never actually thought of whether Christmas is a thing there or not, but I guess Turkey definitely isn't a Christian-majority country, yeah
